Congratulations to Ryan Bater who will in all likelihood be the second consecutive Liberal leader not win a single seat in the Saskatchewan legislature.
The first leader to accomplish that feat was David "Senior Spiky Shoes" Karwacki.
Not surprisingly, Bater's leadership bid went unchallenged.

I am feeling very optimistic about the future of the Saskatchewan Liberal Party with Ryan Bater at the helm. He brings to the table not just energy and enthusiasm, but also integrity, intellect, and great instincts.
For those of us who believe that there should be a strong political voice in Saskatchewan fighting for economic, personal, and political freedoms, today is indeed a new day!
Hi goodale watch...the jury is still out. The one comment I will make, is that Bater is talking in the newstory about the Saskatchewan Liberal Party as a right-wing, free enterprise party, which is something we haven't heard in a long time. From my perspective, this is both positive and extremely encouraging!
If Bater gets the formula right, you'll be eating crow. If Bater doesn't get the formula right, I'll be the one eating humble pie!
The Liberal party in Saskatchewan is largely dead and this is just a confirmation of that reality. It would be easy to point out why what pf has said as being untrue given the events of the race but I wish Ryan all the best.
"The Liberal party in Saskatchewan is largely dead and this is just a confirmation of that reality."
You mean the party has been disbanded? When did that happen??
John, like I said, the party is largely dead. They failed to run a candidate in the byelection, they had only one individual run to become the Leader which is better then none but still does not look good and it seems the Bater campaign didn't attract any significant number of new members to the party.
Oh, now I see what you mean!
Gordon, I've been around long enough to remember when people said the Sask Liberal Party was dead in the mid 1980s, and we all know what happened. If Bater keeps repeating what was reported in the SP last Saturday, the party won't be dead for long. Saskatchewan desperately needs a free enterprise party again. Thank goodness Bater has taken up that mantle.
John, Ryan sounds to be in the right direction of where to take the Liberals but he is going to have a hard time convincing voters and the media that the Liberals are a serious party.
Well Douglas, Ryan has plenty of time to spread his free enterprise message, no problem there! If Ryan's message is consistent, voters will pick up on the cue.
There can only be two viable parties in Saskatchewan at a time - a socialist party, and a free enterprise party. Given the massive party the Wall Government is throwing with our taxdollars, it would appear that the members of the new government have forgotten about this dynamic.
